Summer Love 03:37
SUMMER LOVE We were drinking on red wine from a thermos and paper cups Lying on a blanket sun setting over us Singing Joni Mitchell forgetting all about time Singing along with heartstrings your hand in mine Chorus Summer love sun above holding on to you Dancing out in the fields barley in the ballroom Summer love sun above spinning round & round Laughing like coyotes ya our heads up in the clouds Headed out on the gravel windows rolled down The cotton and the ice cream overhead floating round Radio was buzzing playing our song Had no cares at all save for one Said I wanna grow old here, ya will you grow old here with me? Every now and then I think of that summer And wonder if you think of me?
2.
Run 04:11
RUN When I was young I’d dream of the day The traveling show’d come to town I’d slip away Live a gypsy life out on the road, town to town never heading home Take me away ya take me away Chorus I'm gonna run run runaway run gonna run Run to where there's something new to become Run so far they'll forget about me Gonna run, ‘til I'm running running free Thirty years & drifting through a nine to five Collision course with a dead end it’s passing me by A house a car a loan you pay your dues blink of an eye it happens to you Take me away ya take me away Bound for leaving stumbling on my doubts Searching for something might not be found I’m wrinkled, grey and moving slow w a walking cane And I’m looking back on the shimmer of my glory days Close my eyes smile at what I see, to go back I'd give anything Take me away ya take me away
3.
CALLIN’ IT QUITS I’m tired of the aching through with the heart breaking The partaking crying and shaking that comes after it I’m done with the confusion I’m through with the cruising Tired of the bruising and the losing, I’m packing it in Chorus Oh I’m, calling it quits I know I’ve said it before I’m calling it quits but this time it’s for good The court and the spark to the blazing of 2 hearts Marching hand in hand through the wedding arch is it my imagination oh Maybe I fall too fast? Maybe it just never lasts? Maybe it’s in the stars and this Too shall pass but do I trust the constellations? If I were a book I’d take me out of circulation Been looking for love but only found a fabrication
4.
STEP INTO THE FIRE These streets are yours to walk in all your technicolour glory No need for you to hide behind your black and white story You ain’t getting no younger now the years are shooting stars No waiting for stronger I’ll tell you you are Chorus Step into the fire now and feel the burn No flirting with desire, no more waiting on your turn It’s boiling up inside the flames are high and they ain’t backing down Step into the fire now You’ve broken all your mirrors from all that looking deep inside Nothing ever seemed so difficult thoughts run on overdrive Lean into the wind no thinking twice it’ll prop you up Take off your clothes bare feet on the embers standing tall Ain’t no looking back now ain’t no more looking back The drum beats for you nothing to lose
5.
LIKE IT’S THE LAST ONE Someday you might not be there to meet me at the door Someday we might not be stokin’ this fire no more I don't know what I'd do without your hand to hold Hoping that together we can grow old But until then until then Chorus Let’s treat today like it’s the last one we’ll ever have Treat today like it’s the last one no turning back oh Come on come on come on with me We’ll chase the sun live it carefree Treat it like it’s the last one baby you and me Lookin’ back gonna be no regrets in sight Lookin’ back baby we’re gonna say we did it right Two lovesick fools in the park making out Givin’ them something to talk about We’ll do it again do it again Say those things we’ve never said got no time to waste Live it large til our time is up ain’t never ever too late
6.
LUCK AIN’T CHASIN’ ME I've tried a crystal ball that didn't help at all Tried makin’ potions in my kitchen sink that didn't work I don't think I prayed out loud I prayed in vain tried everything I racked my brain Even tried slowin’ down to wait but luck ain’t chasin’ luck ain’t chasin’ me Chorus Sometimes it feels like there's no hope in hell I wonder was it something that I did? Losing my mind trying to break the spell I'm down on my knees oh luck ain’t chasin luck ain’t chasin me I've loved and I have lost piece of my heart always the cost Got bruises from playing the game some call ‘em growing pains Oh how much more before I break? I'm not asking much for heaven's sake Just a little change of scenery oh luck ain’t chasin luck ain’t chasin me I thought of falling stars been combing the sky but not a single one has caught my eye Those stars make their own light maybe I'll start making mine?
7.
I WANNA GO BACK THERE It’d be easy to just turn and walk away It’d be simple oh What we had was amazing ya meant to be Well worth saving You can call me crazy but I don’t want to give it up give it up Chorus Wherever it went I wish that we could go back there Whatever it was it’s gone it just ain’t fair I don’t want to settle for less than incredible Ain’t nothing we can’t repair Wherever it went ya I wanna go back there Used to be crazy every time we’d kiss Nothing else mattered but us So perfect together oh yeah we were the best Don’t you remember? I don’t wanna give it up, give it up, give it up, I don’t wanna give it up
8.
NOWHERE HEART I'm a somewhere man with a nowhere heart Looking for a place where it belongs Time is a one-way road but love’s a two-way street Keep my eyes on the horizon and a hope inside of me That you will be what I've always wanted and I will be the one that you need Chorus I am just a somewhere man looking for a place to land Waiting for a perfect hand I’m taking my time Deep down in this nowhere heart I’m looking for a place to start A light that leads out of the dark but until then I'm a somewhere man A somewhere man with a nowhere heart I've got an emptiness inside my chest Just a few tiny pieces left of what I once had And you could say I'm lost but I'm just not looking back I been wandering and wondering blowing with the wind searching for my path You will be what I've always wanted I will be the one that you need You're the place where my nowhere heart belongs And I’ll find you yes I’ll find you my love
9.
These Bones 04:14
THESE BONES These bones don't seem to fit inside my skin any more It seems so sudden and different and I can't ignore The signs I just need some time alone close the blinds turn off the phone Think of all the time that's flown These bones don't seem to fit inside my skin anymore These feet have walked ten thousand miles or maybe more I been losing track of where I've gone and what I'm heading for Looking back on the path I chose up the highs and down the lows Did I just go where winds would blow These feet have walked ten thousand miles or maybe even more Chorus And if I had the chance to do it all again would I do anything different? If I had the chance to start again from here would it all be clearer? This heart has loved and this heart has lost Knowing emptiness has been the only cost I've had it filled to overflow covered it from some heavy blows Now it seems I'm fine all on my own This heart has loved and this heart has lost it has lost These bones don't seem to fit inside my skin anymore It seems so sudden and different and I can't ignore The signs I just need some time alone close the blinds turn off the phone Count the years that have all but flown These bones don't seem to fit inside my skin anymore These bones don't seem to fit inside my skin anymore

DIFFERENT DRUM Sometimes I feel like I’m a stranger here so far from it all I could buy souvenirs Don’t get me wrong I see the door but I’m staying put couldn’t ask for more I lean a little bit left I’m a little bit bent no not outta shape that’s quite well kept My heart beats in three’s when four’s are the rage I’m a little Strauss waltz in my own parade Oh grab your clarinets your saxophones your ticker tape baby I’m bringin’ it home yes I’m Chorus Marchin’ marchin’ to the beat of a different drum and I don’t know Don’t know where that rhythm’s comin’ from oh yes I’m Marchin’ marchin’ to a war aint gonna be won oh Strike up the band and watch me walk alone Feels like I’m singing with the Jackson Five in a choir that only knows lullabies I’m no daredevil as far as I’m concerned I see the lines I just like ‘em blurred I’m a perfect tower more Pisa than Eifel spit shine with a little plaid flannel I’m a thoroughbred cut out for the race but I tend to run it at my own pace Oh grab your clarinets your saxophones your ticker tape baby I’m bringin’ it home yes I’m I fought so hard for the perfect fit could have marched in November with the veterans But I’ve let down my guard no more Joan of Arc I’m keeping my eye on the north star Watch me walk alone into this great unknown oh honey I can hold my own
11.
Gravity 04:30
GRAVITY Gravity I can’t resist ain’t no saving me from this dizziness I’m head over heels and it almost feels like the ground’s been pulled From under me oh gravity Up up and away, up up and away, up up and away Chorus Look at us now this is Venus this is Mars When I’m hand in hand with you I’m up amongst the stars You can hold me like the moon to the sea it’s hard to understand You give me a soft place to land Oh the gravity in between our two hearts has me weak in the knees And out of the blue I felt the pull you kissed my lips My heart was full oh gravity Up up and away, up up and away, up up and away Gravity you set me free I been hoping now for an eternity This is far far far more than I ever ever ever longed for Ya thankfully oh gravity
12.
YOU MAKE ME WANT TO I used to wonder what it would be like to spend all my waking hours With someone like you in my life and if I would know how And I’m the best kind of overwhelmed you’ve got me all to yourself I give you everything I’ve got, that’s what I do, that’s what I do You make me want to I keep losing all track of time days all disappear Ya it’s like I’m walking blind and you’re the voice I hear You’re the melody that guides the way I’m the harmony that never strays I give you everything I’ve got, that’s what I do, that’s what I do You make me want to Want to stay awake never close my eyes I’m moved in ways I never realized Never thought I’d want to, oh never thought I’d want to Ya but you make me want to, you do

about

North Star Falling is the 2015 studio recording by Canadian singer-songwriter-pianist Jeffery Straker.
About the album, North Star Falling:
A navigational reference point in the night sky, the North Star has been looked to for ages as a guide. It’s a constant. It’s dependable. And it’s helped lead the journeys of everyone from early explorers to slaves escaping under cover of darkness. But what if it fell? We’d suddenly not have this beacon on our side, and our sky would look very different. We’d likely need to change course, and take a different route. We might end up at a different destination altogether and discover something new, or we may end up where we initially intended but just via a different route with different experiences along the way. Sometimes life does throw us a curveball and in that moment we either fall in defeat or rise to the occasion. Take a chance, push forward, and go about your journey in a different way and see where it might lead you. Be open to a new adventure in the wake of a “North Star Falling”.
