“Just After Sunset” contains 5 songs from “Just Before Sunrise”, all reimagined in a stripped-down setting. With Jeffery’s previous 8 albums being piano-driven outings, he changes gears with this EP by inviting acoustic guitar to lead the charge on 4 of the songs. Only simple hand percussion, foot stomps, and sparse piano add to the arrangements. One song in the collection (Track 5: Heavy is the Burden) adds backing vocals and strings. The result is a striking collection of folk-songs focusing on the lyrics and stories within.
